Bank Restrictions Might Be Why You Cannot Request An Uber

If you’ve been experiencing any difficulty in requesting an Uber in recent weeks, then this post is for you. The e-hailing company recently sent out an email to its registered users explaining that bank restrictions may be the reason why some riders may have been unable to either request a ride or pay for one in recent times.

Uber says that some riders may be having issues paying because some banks (no specific bank was mentioned) have begun declining Uber transactions completely.

Hence, the company suggested in the email that riders pay using cards from certain banks or instead look out for the new Cash payment option. Their exact words were “Cards issued by Stanbic IBTC, Diamond Bank, Skye Bank, UBA, amongst others are still accepting Uber transactions so feel free to include these as payment methods if you currently hold a card with one of these banks. Otherwise, Cash was launched today as an experiment in Lagos and so you may be able to pay cash for your Uber trips.”

The company however assures the public that it is currently partnering with some other organizations to launch solutions that would enable us all enjoy a truly cashless Uber experience. For more support or clarification, send an email to support.lagos@uber.com
