Infinix Note 2

What you need to know about the new Infinix Note 2

Infinix mobility officially announced its latest product in the NOTE lineup: NOTE 2 into the Nigerian market during the biggest sales event of the year, Black Friday. The Note 2 is a successor to the Hot Note which got positive reviews and delivered impressive performance especially in the battery department.

The infinix Note 2 was ushered in by a teaser campaign themed #InfinixBig6 which went on for about a month and raised arousal about what the company is set to unveil. This campaign got positive response with high expectations, obviously many people have been asking for the Pre-Order link and where to buy but unfortunately the product is yet to be available as at the time of writing this piece so I guess people will have to wait a little longer.

Well, before you wait too long… I doubt if you will, let me give you some info you need to know about the device. First of all, be prepared for a big screen because the Note 2 is a 6-inch device which gives you enough real estate to enjoy your movies, gaming sessions, note taking, video calls among others. Screen resolution is 720 X 1280 HD (Not full HD) with deep contrast.

The Note 2 is not only big on display but also big on battery, it comes fitted with a non-removable 4000mAh battery which the company says will last for two days, errhmm!! Well you should know that will vary from user to user but I am of the opinion that you will continue to smile at your battery going by the performance of the Hot Note. Infinix also touted that the Note 2 can be used to charge another phone once you have an OTG (on The Go) cable.

There is also the Ultra-Power saving mode which gives you extra power when you are almost running out of battery and a fast charging technology which delivers 8 hours of usage time with 15 minutes of charge, an improvement on what we got from the Hot Note.

Camera is pegged at 13 Mega Pixel with an optimized Samsung’s S5K3M2 ISOCELL CMOS light sensors. Front camera is an impressive 2 Mega Pixel with a surprisingly clear, sharp and detailed picture quality. I was so impressed with the performance of the 2MP front camera even under low light conditions….. that’s what I call selfie-redefined.

As expected, it is powered by a Mediatek chipset, a 64-bit, 1.3 GHz octa-core processor with 4G LTE support. This is actually the first 4G enabled device from Infinix, but there is slight twist here, there are two variants of the Note 2 bearing different RAM sizes.

The 4G LTE version comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory which is expandable to 32GB with an SD card while the other version which bears 1GB of RAM, 16GB memory is not 4G enabled… how sad though but can the 4G make a good trade off? My answer will be – Maybe yes with the N4,000 price differential.

Android version is Lollipop 5.1 with a UI revamp. The new UI is called XUI and it performs Android specific optimization to increase overall performance by 21% . In addition, XUI will receive updates every 2 weeks. Users will be able to enjoy free updates and support from the Infinix team and Finet, an authorized experience centre in Lagos.

The retail price for will be N27, 300 for the 16GB ROM+1GB RAM version  and N31, 600 for the 16GB ROM+2GB RAM, 4G LTE version.

Update: Infinix says one of the version comes with 1.5GB of RAM but not 1GB
