1 year after being named best online betting platform, SportyBet faces no cash out/withdrawal allegations

Online sports betting company Sportybet has been embroiled in a series of callouts over the past few years and those callouts do not seem to be waning as #Sportybetscam has trended for days on end on Twitter.

There have been calls for more stringent regulations in the online betting industry after betting company MSport was dragged for irregularities in its operations. The betting site allegedly changed its policy overnight after its users recorded high winnings.

MSport was said to have reduced claims for winners from N5.5 million, including bonuses to below N1.5 million after the game had been played and won.

The National Letter regulatory commission (NLRC) led by Lanre Gbaja stepped in and bettors were said to have received their claims.

Days ago Twitter user @legitcalculator claimed Sportybet seized his N1,000,000 plus winning and held his deposit of N850,000, a tweet which has massed over 400 retweets and a number of other bettors sharing their tales of woe with SportyBet.

While the Sportybet handle on Twitter engages users via replies and DMs, some of its registered bettors have reported to the NLRC but there are no reports of the issues being resolved yet.

Last year, Sportybet was the number 1 sports betting site and fastest payout bookie according to the Punch newspapers. The ranking was based on legality, technology, cash-out, deposit/withdrawals among other factors.
