Studies on the number of women in tech careers indicate a hopeful reality: while the tech industry is still dominated by men in terms of numbers, there are many smart women in leadership roles who are altering the picture.
This week, TechCity was inspired to share what’s unfolding in the larger tech scene and the movers and shakers impacting the industry, in commemoration of International Women’s Day. We focused on inspiring black female heroines that are altering the sector via their own ideas.
So, in honour of the growing but powerful tribe of black women who are propelling the tech sector ahead, we have, in this video, compiled a list of some of the industry’s top leaders, influencers, and CEOs. These women lead some of the world’s most prestigious and promising companies, but most importantly, they are setting the stage for the world we want to exist in.
The black women on this list are in the fields of cybersecurity, biotechnology, tech research, document technology, STEM education, and IoT, and founders of organizations such as Black Girls Code and Uncharted Power.
This list in the video is by no means exhaustive. There are many more influential lack women in tech that should be celebrated.
