Bing, Microsoft’s search engine has released its annual search engine trends for 2015. Below are a list of top searched celebrities, most searched athletes and top news stories for the year.

Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner dethrones Kim Kardashian as best searched celebrity
After coming out as a transgender female, Olympian and reality TV star Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner dethroned step daughter and last year’s to top spot holder, Kim Kardashian and rose to the top of the Most Searched Celebrities list. A rise that was strongly influenced by a powerful primetime interview on “20/20,” an iconic Vanity Fair magazine cover, and an emotional speech while accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award (ESPYS). Thanks to a year full of colourful antics and attire, Miley Cyrus was runner-up.
Looking then at the Bing’s 2015 Most Searched Athletes list, we see that women took centre stage. Ronda Rousey took the second spot after a remarkable year and her high-profile match against Holly Holm. Serena Williams also made the list as the most searched tennis player in the world. In fact, after clinching her sixth Wimbledon championship title and triumphing at both the French Open and Australian Open, Williams was searched more than the top five men’s players combined in 2015.
