Twitter announced they were going to be extending the 140 character limits on tweets by making sure images, GIFs, polls, quoted tweets and videos do not sum up towards the final word count.

Twitter first made this announcement in May, and now they’ve revealed that this upgrade has been rolled out, with the “@name” and all forms of media not counting towards the character limit.
This new feature can be had when the app is upgraded on the Google Playstore.
