Instagram has done it again…and this time, they successfully cloned the most popular features of Snapchat.
The update which Instagram calls ‘Face Filters’ includes eight filters now, but they say more filters will be added from time to time. The filters can be accessed by tapping on the camera button and then the face icon in the bottom right corner.
It features styles like various crowns, animals like koala, rabbit and a spinning math equation.
Even the magic beautifying/contour filter that keeps me on Snapchat has been dubbed by Instagram.
Also, the ‘Rewind’ feature that was in Snapchat which makes videos play in reverse, has been added.
The only ‘non-Snapchat’ features they added are a new hashtag sticker and an eraser tool. You can edit the hashtag sticker or add hashtags using regular text. People watching your story will be able to tap the hashtag sticker or text to visit the hashtag page and explore related posts.
When using the drawing tool, you’ll see a new eraser brush. You can erase other things you’ve drawn and play around with removing color. After you’ve taken a photo or video, select a drawing tool and tap and hold to fill the entire screen with color. Then, using the eraser brush, you can creatively reveal parts of your photo or video underneath.
The update is now available to iOS and android users.
But my question now is, “Will this move decrease the number of Snapchat users?”
This is brilliant! I don’t want to know if these were copied or not. I just appreciate the beauty of it. Well, like you said, this might truely affect the number of people using Snapchat. I don’t even have Snapchat on my phone. See….
