IKEA in collaboration with RainMaking launched a Bootcamp in May 2017 to find motivated start-ups and they are already accepting applications for the first class of their Bootcamp in September. Application deadline is Sunday, August 6, 2017, so no time.
Founded in 1943, IKEA, a company located in 43 locations with 186,000 employees has been running with a focus to “improve everyday life for the many people”.
IKEA is looking for startups interested in (idea stage) or working on (early-revenue stage) some of their identified ‘Big Problems’ around being affordable for the many people, reaching and interacting with the many, and enabling a positive impact on the planet, people and society.
They imagine the startups will be working in any of these fields: Disruptive Technologies (e.g AI, VR/AR, IoT), Customer Experience and retail (e.g Chatbots, Marketing, E-commerce), Disruptive design (e.g AI assisted design, sensor tech), Sustainability (e.g Recycling, Green footprint), Food innovation (e.g VR food tasting, food conservation), Manufacturing (e.g Cost reduction technologies, optimising packaging), Supply Chain & Logistics (e.g shipping and tracking, drones) and Systems & analytics (e.g Cloud innovation, Big data).
If you’re one of the selected startups for the Head Start, you’ll be invited to give a 3-minute pitch of your business idea to the IKEA Bootcamp team – consisting of innovation experts from IKEA and Rainmaking. In return, you’ll get valuable feedback and advice on your startup with an increased chance of being selected into the program.
Also, IKEA Bootcamp Head Start will visit different locations worldwide including cities like Copenhagen, Tel Aviv, New York, London and Paris.
