3 Nigerians Build First Made-in-Nigeria Electric Tricycles

It is no longer news that vehicles that run on lower carbon-emitting fuels are critical to achieving global energy security and climate protection goals. The world has gone digital and and technology is fast shaping the way things are done. Just recently, three young Nigerians wholly built electric tricycles!

On the 25th of October, a Nigerian named Kenneth Nwarache with a Twitter handle identified by @dvoizz revealed in a post the very first Electric Tricycles in Nigeria. This feat was achieved alongside his partners Mustapha and Sadiq.

The thread also included a video clip showing the testing of the electric tricycle which maintained speeds of 72 kilometers per hour with minimal battery drain.

According to Kenneth, the trio plan to produce electric prototypes of Bus Rapid Transits (BRTs), commercial buses and cars. Charging stations will be metered and an app will be made available for those who want to pay using ATM cards. He also said they were capable of converting already existing petrol to electrically charged tricycles.

On the very important issue of maintenance, Kenneth suggested that the tricycles possess low maintenance requirements and they intend to train technicians.

Maintenance is low but we intend to train technicians. Remember before now we had horses, then cars. Fixing/repairs isn’t an issue for us. This has been in the pipeline for over 2years now. We are thorough.

We, at TechCity, congratulate Kenneth, Mustapha, and Sadiq. We applaud them for using their knowledge to innovate and address the needs of Nigerians. It is our hope that investors would begin to see the need to invest in good solutions like theirs.
