Co-founder of civic tech organisation Budgit and sister company Tracka, Seun Onigbinde has indicated he may run for presidency in 2023. He made this known via a thread of tweets posted on his verified twitter handle. He said, “I just gave myself a good 15-minute pitch of my 2023 agenda. It’s getting clearer that I may run for President.” He then broke down what his pitch may have contained into a 10point agenda in a series of tweets.
While some of his followers have commended his announcement and encouraged Onigbinde to work towards it, many tech colleagues have pledged to join his team when the time comes.
Only last year, Onigbinde who is very vocal about government policies and politics resigned as Technical adviser to the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning. In a Medium post, he explained that media reports about his appointment at the time created a complex narrative, which he believed would engender an atmosphere of mistrust, as he planned to proceed and on that premise, he resigned the appointment.
Also in 2017, a Project Tracking Officer at Budgit, Moses Motoni was reportedly arrested in Kaduna by SARS while tracking constituency projects but was later released in Abuja.
