Clubhouse Finally Launches on Android

Clubhouse has finally decided to accommodate Android users but it is kicking off with residents in the United States before spreading to other English-speaking countries.

In a statement released on the 9th of May, 2021, the invitation-only app said, “… we are thrilled to share that Clubhouse for Android will start rolling out in beta immediately. We will begin gradually, with the U.S. today, followed by other English-speaking countries and then the rest of the world. Our plan over the next few weeks is to collect feedback from the community, fix any issues we see and work to add a few final features like payments and club creation before rolling it out more broadly.”

After its launch in April 2020, Clubhouse gained maximum popularity despite its decision to accommodate only iOS users in voice chat rooms of up to 5,000 people. The voice chat app has since existence bridged the gap among individuals distinguished in class, field, and psychological make-up through speaking and listening.

Android availability has been the most requested feature from all and sundry in the ~1year existence of the app which makes this announcement relatively exciting. Relatively, because apps like Twitter created Twitter Spaces to solve the inclusivity problem.

Nonetheless, Clubhouse says its plan over the next few weeks is to “collect feedback from the community, fix any issues we see and work to add a few final features like payments and club creation before rolling it out more broadly. With Android, we believe that Clubhouse will feel more complete,”

Clubhouse also gave its word on welcoming millions more iOS users on the waitlist and expanding language support and adding more accessibility features, so that people worldwide can experience Clubhouse in a way that feels native to them.
