Instagram is Replacing the ‘Swipe Up’ Feature with Stickers

It seems easier to swipe up and be redirected right? How about getting redirected with link stickers?

Instagram will be letting go of the ‘swipe up’ gesture to access links, a feature only privileged to users with up to 10,000 followers or with verified accounts. According to a notification from Instagram, link stickers will from August 30th, be used to access links.

“Starting August 30, swipe up links will go away. To add a link to your story, use the new link sticker,” the notification read. Although It’s unclear if it’s a global rollout because not all Instagram users have received the notification.

So far, no formal announcement about the replacement of the swipe up feature has been put out by Instagram, but Jane Manchun Wong, the App reverse engineer hinted on Twitter that Instagram will be removing the swipe up links feature from August 30 and replacing it with a new link sticker option.

The new ‘link sticker’ option will allow eligible users to use stickers that have links embedded anywhere on their story. It’s not confirmed yet if there will be specific stickers assigned or users will be able to pick at random.
