Slack will cost its pro users across the world a bit more from September this year.
Announcing the price increment in a blog, the company said it is “our first price increase since we launched in 2014–at 75 cents or less per user.” While this increase in price will affect only its pro users, a number of changes are also coming for free users on the productivity app.
Slack announced new features like Clips for free users. Clips allow anyone to send audio and video and screen-share messages in direct messages and channels as a way to provide synchronized team updates and reduce the number of meetings needed. Free teams can also now set a retention period for their messages and files.
Free teams on Slack will also now get full access to the past 90 days of message history and file storage, instead of a 10,000-message limit and 5GB of storage.
On the pro side of things, Slack will cost users about a dollar and a few cents more, depending on your preferred duration.
Monthly Pro plans will increase from $8 to $8.75 per user per month, and annual Pro plans will increase from $6.67 to $7.25 per user per month.
To avoid paying the new fee, Slack has said current customers on the annual Pro plan can lock in the existing annual rate of $6.67 per month for another year by renewing before September 1. Customers currently on a monthly Pro plan can also lock in the existing annual rate for one year by switching to an annual Pro plan before September 1. However, pricing for the Business plus and Enterprise Grid plans will remain the same.
