We are approaching the release date for the FIFA 23 football game, which will be available across various consoles. This year’s release of the football game series holds a pleasant surprise. For the first time since the inception of the FIFA game from EA Sport, a female football star will feature on the cover image of it’s global edition.
Sam Kerr, Australian professional footballer who plays with Chelsea women’s football team sits beside Kylian Mbappe on the FIFA 23 cover. Kerr wears the number 20 jersey for her country and club. She is also a stunning player, whose 99th-minute goal won Chelsea the FA women’s cup against Man City.
Adding a female footballer to the cover image of the FIFA 23 game is revolutionary in so many ways. It is the first time a woman will be on the global edition as its regional editions have featured women in the past. In the wake of Nigerian athlete, Oluwatobi Amusan’s historic win at the World athletics championship held in Oregon, USA, FIFA featuring a female sportsperson will encourage other female players to do more, knowing that their performance will not go unnoticed. Further, we are likely to see more female sports stars in future EA Sports football games. Maybe someday our own Asisat Oshoala will have the opportunity to feature in an EA Sports football series.
Over the past six years, we have seen players like Marco Reus (2017), Cristiano Ronaldo (2018), Neymar, Paulo Dybala and Kevin De Bruyne (2019). After these amazing players, Kylian Mbappé held the cover images for the next two years and will join Sam Kerr on this year’s entry.
