Since acquiring Twitter, now known as X, Elon Musk has had more than his fair share of legal troubles. In a lawsuit filed on Monday, four former Twitter executives—among them the former CEO Parag Agrawal—claimed Musk owed them more than $128 million in severance pay.
The complaint claims that Musk harbors “special ire” for Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and lawyers Sean Edgett and Vijaya Gadde because they exerted a great deal of effort to keep him to his $44 billion commitment when he attempted to back out.
Elon Musk’s biography by Walter Isaacson, which is cited in the case, states that Musk would “hunt every single one” of Twitter’s C-suite “till the day they die.”
Musk, who was never able to provide proof for his claims, allegedly accused the executives of engaging in “willful misconduct” and “gross negligence” in their letters of termination.
Other former Twitter employees who are also awaiting payment have filed lawsuits against Musk. More lawsuits and evictions have also resulted from the company’s refusal to pay rent on some of its office premises.
Last year, Musk was also accused of appropriating the Twitter name “X” without permission or compensation. For sixteen years, the account belonged to photographer Gene Hwang, but as part of the transition process, Twitter claimed the username as part of Musk’s rebranding drive.
