Huawei Mate 70 Series Unveiled With Its New Android Free OS

Huawei has introduced its Mate 70 series smartphones, the first lineup to feature the company’s HarmonyOS Next operating system. Unlike previous models, these phones do not rely on Google’s Android services or run Android apps. According to Reuters, this marks a bold step by Huawei to move away from U.S. technology, following years of sanctions.

The Mate 70 series includes four models: Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro Plus, and Mate 70 RS. These phones also support HarmonyOS 4.3, which remains compatible with Android apps. However, users who adopt the new HarmonyOS Next will have limited app options. Huawei plans to expand its ecosystem to over 100,000 apps in the coming months. Starting in 2025, all new Huawei phones and tablets will run HarmonyOS Next.
