At the recent Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in San Jose, California, Samsung once again teased its highly anticipated extended reality (XR) headset, codenamed “Project Moohan.” The company showcased a silhouette of the headset, drawing immediate comparisons to Apple’s Vision Pro. While details remain scarce, Samsung confirmed that the XR Headset will be powered by the Android XR operating system, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm.
Samsung emphasized that the XR Headset will leverage multimodal artificial intelligence (AI). This AI integration will revolutionize how users interact with both the physical and digital worlds. The company showcased potential user interactions, including eye tracking and hand gesture controls.
Similar to Apple’s Vision Pro, the Headset may incorporate advanced eye-tracking technology. This technology could enable users to select items or navigate menus simply by looking at them.
Beyond the XR headset, Samsung hinted at the potential development of smart glasses. The company highlighted how multimodal AI will transform interactions with new form factors, including both XR headsets and smart glasses.
First announced in December 2024, the XR Headset is expected to offer a range of cutting-edge features. These include advanced input methods, high-quality displays, and passthrough capabilities that allow users to see the real world while wearing the headset.
The XR Headset will be the first device on the market to utilize the new Android XR operating system. This will unlock a range of exciting features, including:

Circle to Search: A gesture-based search function.
