Instagram has launched new DM features to improve user communication. These include message translation, music sharing, scheduled messages, pinned content, and group chat QR codes.
The latest Instagram DM features aim to enhance messaging and position the platform as a strong competitor to services like Apple’s iMessage and other third-party messaging apps.

“We’re introducing message translation, music stickers, scheduled messages, pinned content, and group chat QR codes to make it even easier to connect with people over DMs,” Instagram stated.
These features are available globally on iOS and Android, with web access expected soon.
New Instagram DM Features
1. Message Translation
Users can now translate messages directly within their DMs. At launch, the tool supports 99 languages. This feature makes it easier for people to communicate across different languages.
To translate, hold down a message and tap “Translate.”
2. Music Sharing
Instagram now allows users to share 30-second music previews in their chats.
“You can share songs with the people you’re chatting with, without leaving your DMs,” Instagram explained.
3. Scheduled Messages
Users can schedule messages to be sent at a later time.
To schedule a message, type your text, hold down the send button, and select the desired date and time.
4. Pinned Content
Users can pin specific messages, images, or Reels within a chat. This feature helps in coordinating and revisiting important content.
“Now, you can pin specific messages to the top of any 1:1 or group chat,” Instagram stated.
5. Group Chat QR Codes
Instagram now lets users generate QR codes for group chat invites.
Users can create a scannable QR code through the invite link option in a chat. This makes it easier to share and join group conversations.

Instagram recently introduced Teen Accounts to protect under-18 users. This feature limits who can contact them and restricts inappropriate content.
Additionally, a new reset feature lets users clear and customize content recommendations across Feed, Explore, and Reels. This provides a safer and more personalized experience.
