Microsoft is adding AI themes in Outlook, dubbed “Themes by Copilot,” to personalize the email client for users with a Copilot Pro or business license. These new themes aim to enhance the appearance of Outlook across all platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and the web. According to Microsoft, these themes are designed to make “Outlook more beautiful and approachable.”
Users will have the option to create themes based on weather conditions or specific locations, with the added benefit of dynamic updates that can refresh every few hours, daily, weekly, or monthly. “If you’ve enabled location permissions in Outlook, the My Location theme will bring you imagery uniquely inspired by your locale, dynamically updating for you as you head out the door on a trip or vacation,” says Microsoft.
How AI Themes Work on Outlook
AI themes in Outlook include a wallpaper that serves as the background for the desktop version and the top section of the iOS and Android apps. Additionally, each theme has an accent color that customizes the rest of the Outlook client’s interface for a cohesive look.
Microsoft is also introducing a collection of non-AI-powered themes for those without a Copilot license. This collection includes standard color options like green, red, and purple, and will be available on the web, PC, Mac, and mobile versions of Outlook.
Enhanced User Experience
These AI themes in Outlook are expected to make the platform more engaging by allowing for personalized visual experiences. Users with a Copilot license will have access to exclusive customization features, while those without it can still enjoy the new non-AI-powered color themes.
With these updates, Microsoft aims to cater to both premium and standard users, expanding its efforts to make Outlook more appealing and user-friendly.
