Apple CEO, Tim Cook wants to buy Manchester United for $6.9 billion

According to the available reports on Manchester United’s sale, Apple CEO Tim Cook is looking to purchase the football club.

A report from the UK media claims that Apple CEO Tim Cook wants to buy English club, Manchester United. This possible purchase is coming in the light of the current owners of the club, the Glazers’ plan to sell it out. The price Cook is offering to pay is less than the initial asking price of the Glazers.

When the news went public, the Glazers were asking for $9.9 billion for ManU. After a while, however, the club owners decided to sell the club to the highest bidder. According to those familiar with the matter, Apple has set their bid for $6.9 billion, which is much less than the initial asking price.

Neither Apple nor the management at Manchester United has made any comment on this issue. But, this purchase, if successful will help Apple expand its presence to other fields in more regions. To this day, Apple for some reason has limited its football streaming services to the US Major Soccer League.

If the purchase pulls through, we might see streaming services on Apple TV expand to the Premier League. Well, Apple CEO Tim Cook is not the only one with eyes out to buy Manchester United. There are other buyers on this offer as well, if any of them can beat the price Apple is offering, then Tim Cook can kiss Manchester United goodbye.

For a fact, Cook’s plan to purchase the English football club will put his firm at loggerheads with one of their biggest rivals, Qualcomm. A few months ago Qualcomm Snapdragon, an Apple rival in the chip manufacturing industry, became one of Manchester United’s sponsors. Will Tim Cook risk a confrontation with Qualcomm, or does his firm have the means to secure this purchase independently? We will be keeping tabs on the matter as details unfold in the coming weeks.
