Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched AWS Fintech Africa Accelerator for African Fintech startups.
Powered by AWS Startup Loft Accelerator, the programme is set up to support pre-seed and seed stage fintech startups developing their projects in Africa.
The acceleration offers up to $25,000 in AWS active credit, a free one year AWS business support subscription for up to $5,000. It also includes a 10-week online equity free program that is tailored to help early-stage fintech startups enhance their business.
It gives a platform to connect with industry experts and establish industry contacts as well as an opportunity to access top VC funds. Startups also get to join a vast community of founders, VC funds and experts in marketing, sales, product and technology.
Selected companies can leverage industry experts and top VC funds including Unicorn Growth Capital, Lateral Frontiers VC, First Circle, Dawn Capital, White Star Capital, Blackfin Capital Partner, Flash point Venture Capital, TechCabal and Paga. All startups specialized in Fintech and located in Africa can participate.
A major clause in the eligibility requirement is that the startup must build on at least one of AWS services. This means that startups will build their project on AWS infrastructure using at least one AWS service.
An already built project must have been built on AWS and is live. In the case that the project has been built on any other platform, it will be migrated to AWS during the acceleration programme. AWS has dedicated migration programmes for migration from on-premise hosting or other cloud platforms.
To participate, interested startups need to submit a complete application by filling out the application form correctly and click on the submit button.
Applications can only be submitted online on the Vestbee website. Applications are open till 27th of April, 2023.
