The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy have jointly initiated the “Young Innovative Builders” (YIB) programme.
In a call for innovative solutions built by Nigerian students who have completed their industrial training, the programme aims to acknowledge and reward students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria who can leverage digital to solve problems they have identified.
Recognizing the role of industrial training in providing practical experience for knowledge application, the YIB programme seeks to reward students for their innovative projects aligning with the ministry’s objectives to advance the nation’s digital economy.
The programme, spanning across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), will award 48 laptops to the top projects in each state, with an additional 40 tablets awarded to the “second” best innovations. The initiative seeks to incentivize and showcase the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of young Nigerians in technology and innovation.
