Nokia has upgraded the Asha 501 with WhatApp now available for the device. other services available upon the upgrade are Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync features and voice-over-Internet Protocol (VOIP).
The Asha 501 was originally launched in May, pre-installed with apps like facebook, WeChat, 2go, Line and a host of others. Nokia promised that the popular messaging App, Whatsapp will be available shortly. Now the company has delivered on its promise with the latest upgrade. The update brings the software in line with what’s used on the recently announced Asha 500, 502 and 503. Once users have received the software update, they can download the WhatsApp client and start sending instant messages.
Nokia has made it known that “the update will become available on all Nokia Asha 501 phones during November and December. It’s an over-the-air update, so you’ll get a message on your phone when it’s ready for download”.
The Asha 501 has a 3-inch capacitive display screen with resolution of 240x320pixel, The display is touch responsive, has a brightness control, RGB stripe, Screen double tap and readable under the sun with great viewing angles. An interesting feature in the user interface of the operating system is Fastlane, this feature gives a quick overview of your activities like recently accessed contacts, social networks and apps. It also allows you to see your recent posts and pictures from Facebook, and watch the comments and likes roll in. The fastlane feature allows you to be in full control: choose which updates you want to see – and delete the posts that you don’t need.
