In October 2014 Blackberry added the retract button to their BBM instant messaging service, and since then it’s been saving users from embarrassing situations.
It was probably created as a possible solution to the Alicia Keys faux pas that occurred in 2013 http://www.theverge.com/2013/2/11/3977958/blackberry-creative-director-alicia-keys-tweeting-iphone-hacked. But the retract button only works on BBM.
In a perfect world it would be on every social media app, alas we live in an imperfect world. In this world, BlackBerry twitter campaigns are run using an app that is devoid of the retract button. Adding to the injustice of it all, the app has to be used on an iphone. No it doesn’t. There’s a twitter app for BlackBerry https://about.twitter.com/products/blackberry10.
So why is BlackBerry tweeting from an iphone?
Should someone handling BlackBerry’s twitter account be using an iphone?
What’s it with BlackBerry and fumbling on twitter?
Is it the opposition at work?
Will we ever get answers to these questions?
Your guess is as good as mine. But right now at BlackBerry the main question being asked is, “How do we get Twitter to install the retract button?”
