Plans are underway for the restoration of telecoms services to towns and villages that were cut off as a result of insurgent activities of Boko Haram in the north east region of Nigeria. To this effect, the Nigerian Army is working closely with the telecoms operators.
Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Yusuf Burutai revealed these and more while on a courtesy visit to Adebayo Shittu, Nigeria’s communications minister, yesterday.
Burutai said they are working with telecoms operators to rebuild facilities destroyed by insurgents.
He asked for collaboration with the communications ministry on the deployment of latest technologies to track criminals in the country. He expressed the readiness of the military to partner with the communications ministry on satellite communications.
