Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani has revealed plans for digitized government services.
He took an ative step towards this goal by engaging the eGov foundation this week. He also mentioned plans to sign a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with them.
eGov Foundation is a philanthropic mission that cares deeply about making the lives of ordinary citizens better, including health, sanitation, public finance management systems, and access and delivery of services from the government, by creating open digital infrastructure and ecosystems.
In the statement made on his Instagram post on Friday, the minister highlighted that the purpose of partnership is to leverage the foundation’s experience in building digital infrastructures and services.
He said;
“Our plans to deliver more robust digitalised government services was enriched by our engagement yesterday with the eGov foundation.
We will be signing an MoU with them to leverage their experience helping the Indian government build scalable digital services.
I also look forward to hosting them at a workshop in Abuja on designing Digital Public Infrastructure for government services.”
e-governance or digitalìzed government involves the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of public institutions and services.
e- government affects every bit of public service.
From simple things like filling out tax forms and renewing driving licenses to more complex processes..
e – governance fosters a more robust pu lic participation and inclusion, and is much more effective and efficient.
The Minister has received lots of positive feedback owing this announcement . Nigerians look forward to a measurable improvement in systems as a result of this partnership with the e-Gov Foundation.
e-Gov Foundation has been working for 20 years and has impacted over 20 billion citizens across diffenrent countries. Such countrues include Sri Lanka, India, Jamaica, Indonesia and the Philippines.
With a hundred partners and counting, they have built 40 solutions via collaborations using open APIs.
