CAC Deploys AI for Faster Business Registration in Nigeria

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is taking a significant step towards streamlining business registration in Nigeria by exploring Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions. This initiative aims to significantly reduce registration times, bringing them down to mere minutes, aligning Nigeria with global best practices.

Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, Registrar-General and CEO of the CAC, announced this development during a meeting with the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI (National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure), Khalil Suleiman Halilu. To achieve this ambitious goal, the CAC will leverage NASENI’s expertise in AI and high-powered computing (HPC) products.

Magaji emphasized the need for ongoing technological advancements to support the CAC’s registration portal’s growing capacity. He believes that a strategic partnership with NASENI, a leader in developing innovative technology solutions, is crucial for achieving this vision.

Halilu expressed concerns about private technology companies exploiting government agencies by selling redundant or unnecessary products. He assured that NASENI’s technology services would offer cost-effective and durable solutions.

Bashir Aliyu, S.A. ICT to the NASENI boss, revealed a collaborative effort involving NASENI, NITDA (National Information Technology Development Agency), the National Centre for AI Robotics, and the Federal Ministry of Communications and Data Economy.

This collaboration focuses on replicating successful AI models used in countries like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to enhance Nigeria’s AI capabilities.
