In our the first glimpse of CoD Black Ops 2 multiplayer gameplay, Activision teases us with new badges, weapons, and more.
What will Black Ops 2 multiplayer look like? In a word: fresh.
At around 10 seconds in, there’s a quick shot of a floating weapons selection hub. We first saw this introduced at Gamescom, and spoke about the multiplayer following that event. It is a seemingly minor inclusion, but also a game changer (no pun intended) for the best-selling series in the world.
Shots of new weapons and sights are all over the trailer (check out the post linked above for a full list of the weapons available), and at around 27 seconds there is an attachment shown that can see through cover, walls, and smoke. After that, we get a peek at some sort of heat-based directed-energy weapon that doesn’t quite kill enemies, but distorts their view and hinders their ability to fight back.
As the game takes place in 2025, drones are everywhere. There’s shots of quadrocopter drones fitted with machine guns, and toward the end a few guys get killed by what appears to be a kamikaze drone.
We had our doubts, but it looks like Black Ops 2 might just be a much-welcomed refresh to the FPS we all know and love.
