YouTube has changed its logo and added some awesome features on desktop and its mobile app.
For 12 years, YouTube’s logo remained the same, although it added features and made changes to the mobile app; one of such features had us wondering if it was morphing into a messaging app.
Just yesterday, YouTube officially announced several updates, including a new logo, and is already rolling out the dark theme to everyone in a new desktop experience with changes on mobile as well.
YouTube’s new logo is a simpler and shows an iconic playful image sliding to the side on the desktop while adopting the Material Design, which many Android users are familiar with. YouTube says the dark theme that has been available for a limited number of people is now being rolled out to everyone, just like the new Material Design experience in general.
There will be a new gesture that lets users swipe to the left to watch a previous video or swipe to the right to watch a new video
The mobile app is also going through some changes. There will be a new gesture that lets users swipe to the left to watch a previous video or swipe to the right to watch a new video. Mobile users will be able to change the speed of videos too from slower to faster depending on what they want.
YouTube has completely changed the way online streaming happens, making it more lifestyle-centric. While some people are unimpressed about the change citing issues such as payment errors, subscriptions, etcetera, the fact that some work has been done on the Youtube image perhaps points to the possibility of more issues being resolved on the users end.
