US-based artist and animator Somehoodlum and multi-hyphenate creative/entrepreneur Arsonic (Zeblocks) have unveiled a fund for creatives called Somefund.
In a post on Instagram, Somehoodlum says the fund also dubbed an artist empowerment contest is open to creatives who need funds for things like short film projects, buying gear, music video support, even software subscription.
Open to creatives all over the world, Somefund, in partnership with community fundraising platform Bonfire, will give out a total of $250,000 in unrestricted funding to deserving creators through fan-powered voting. This unique approach allows fans to directly influence the success of their favorite artists.
Somehoodlum, the driving force behind Somefund, explains, “Somefund is more than just a grant fund; it’s a platform for artists of all sizes to realize their dreams, to innovate, and to create something truly remarkable with the support of the internet and proper funding.”
Arsonic of Zeblocks echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the platform’s connection between art and community. “As someone passionate about the intersection of art and technology, I’ve longed to contribute to the artist community, empowering them to bring their creative visions to life.”
Submissions for the inaugural Somefund competition are now open and will run until January 3rd, 2024, providing ample time for creatives who need the fund to craft compelling pitch decks. Voting will commence immediately after, concluding on February 5th. Winners will be announced shortly thereafter.
