Crop2Cash, a Nigerian A.I. powered Agri-Commerce platform that connects farmers and their crops to industries, has won the Lagos edition of the 2019 Seedstars pitch event. At the official launch of the Seedspace GrowthLab event in Lagos, the agritech startup was selected amongst 9 other startups that participated in the contest.
Seedstars is a Switzerland-based startup competition and the world’s Biggest Startup Competition in Emerging Markets. The competition promotes, connects and invests up to $1 Million in emerging market startups through its exclusive startup competition in over 75+ countries. According to the General Manager of Seedstars Nigeria, Alessia Balducci, the Lagos competition is the most competitive in Africa and a total of 11 startups pitched at the 2019 event.
The other startups that pitched at the Seedstars World Lagos include Asusu, Doctoora, Edusko, Foodlocker, Lucy.ng, One Kiosk Africa, Pronov, Publiseer, and Trades of Africa. At the pitchfest which held at newly inaugurated Seedspace Lagos Hub in Lagos, Doctoora and Traders of Africa emerged the first and second runner-up respectively.
The winning startup, Crop2Cash is an Ibadan-based startup which officially launched in May 2019. Its major product, Supply Base helps agro-processors to completely manage the end-to-end of their supply chain. The startup is less than a year old and its end goal is to become the global leader among solution providers for the agricultural value chain. The startup was co-founded by Michael Ogundare alongside Emem Essien and Seyi Alabi.
Crop2Cash will join the other finalists from different African cities at the Seedstars African Regional Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa at the end of 2019, and the Seedstars Global Summit in 2020.
