Applications have been thrown open for the DEMO AFRICA 2014 startup event due to be hosted for the first time in Lagos Nigeria. DEMO Africa is a place where buyers, investors and media come to see the next big thing out of Africa and perfect for business looking for expansion.
This year DEMO Africa will time be hosted at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria between September 22-26 in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communication and Technology, the National IT Development Agency and the LIONS@FRICA partners.
Applications will be open for a period of 3 months (March 15th and June 15th), giving startups and entrepreneurs hoping to pitch to VCs and investors across the world ample time to submit their applications.
Certain criteria have to be met in order to have the opportunity to launch during the DEMO Africa event, product must be working (not an idea) and ready for market. Other conditions are spelt out here.
The launch categories for DEMO Africa 2014 have been fully revised to include Agriculture, Health, Education, Manufacturing, Retail, Media and Entertainment, Communication, Transport and Logistics, Energy, Finance and Banking, Water and Sanitation, Waste Management and Recycling.
