End SARS: How to watch LIVE proceedings of the Lagos State judicial panel

Following demands made by Nigerian youth during the ENDSARS protests including setting up an independent body to oversee the investigation and prosecution of all reports of police misconduct, the Lagos State judicial panel of inquiry and restitution has begun sitting. It will sit three times a week and will be streamed online. This is according to musician and lawyer FalzTheBahdGuy who tweeted days ago “I will definitely be attending their sessions and following every step of the way!! We are all closely watching this time around. Zero mago-mago! We also have people that will make sure proceedings must always be broadcast live for everyone to watch!”

On Day 1 of its sitting, official Twitter handle of the panel @lagossarspanel streamed live via Periscope (an inbuilt video feature on Twitter; sort of like Instagram LIVE) and Arise News also broadcast it on their YouTube channel. There are indications that this will be done for subsequent sittings.

Following both handles and turning on notifications for Twitter and Youtube means you will get notified once their channels go live at the sitting.

The panel sits at the Lagos State court of arbitration Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays and is open to the public to attend. According to real time updates via Twitter on Tuesday, filmmaker Editi Effiong who attended the sitting physically said the panel started almost 2hours later than scheduled. He also said at the end of the sitting, a number of the cases were adjourned and the panel reportedly retired for the day. The sitting lasted a little over 1hour.

The state governor, Jide Sanwoolu has said people with complaints and petitions on incidents of police brutality should send their cases to the panel via mail judicialpanelonsars@lagosstate.gov.ng or phone, 0901 051 3203 , 0901 051 3204 , 0901 051 3205.
