Facebook has introduced Facebook Pay, a payment system which will avail users with a convenient, secure and consistent payment experience across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.
According to the social networking company, people already use payments across its apps to shop, donate to causes and send money to each other. The feature will make these transactions easier while continuing to ensure your payment information is secure and protected.
The company announced that with Facebook Pay, users can add their preferred payment method once then use Facebook Pay where available to make payments and purchases on our apps, instead of having to re-enter your payment information each time.
User can also set up Facebook Pay app-by-app, or choose to set it up for use across apps (where available) — that means it won’t automatically set up the feature across the apps you are active on, unless you choose to do so.
One other benefit of the unified payment service includes the ease in viewing payment history, managing payment methods and updating your settings in one place.
However, it is important to note that, for now, the feature will have real-time support in the U.S. with a live chat. There are plans for more countries to be added in the future.
The feature will begin rolling out on Facebook and Messenger this week in the US for fundraisers, in-game purchases, event tickets, person-to-person payments on Messenger and purchases from select Pages and businesses on Facebook Marketplace. And over time, the company plans to bring Facebook Pay to more people and places, including for use across Instagram and WhatsApp.
