Games, theses are apps we go to for succor when we are bored and there’s no one to chat with on BBM, Whatsapp and no data to stalk people on Instagram or no newsfeeds to view on Twitter or Facebook.
While games are a fun way to pass time, the pleasure is short lived as they tend to put more pressure on your battery and run it down before you can say ‘’Temple Run’’.
From Candy Crush Saga to Temple Run, most of our favorite games zap our phone batteries regularly; especially when we leave them running in the background. To maximize your phone’s battery life, exit such games if you wouldn’t be playing them at that moment.
Whether you use an iOS, Android, or Windows device, here’s a list of five favorite games that take out a chunk of your smartphone’s battery.
- Angry Birds
This all-time favorite game where you fling birds to kill pigs, has the fourth-highest background battery drain rate (185 megawatts). You could lose about 10% of your battery every 25 to 30 minutes when the app idles in the background of your phone.
- Candy Crush Saga
This highly addictive game was listed by Verizon as a “high-risk Android app”. This game can drain your device battery 3.2 times faster than usual when the app idles in the background of your phone.
- Fruit Ninja
This samurai slicing fruit game is fun to play as you could easily get lost in the world of falling fruits with your fingers ready for the slice. KS Mobile’s report lists Fruit Ninja as number nine on battery-draining Android apps.
- Jewels Star
Its sophisticated 3D graphics is probably one of the reasons this game sucks so much of your battery’s power. Compared to other games, Jewels Star has the highest background battery drain rate of 344 megawatts.
- Temple Run 2
The addictive Temple Run 2, a sequel to the original Temple Run is also a culprit that can take a huge toll on your smartphone’s battery. Temple Run 2 is listed as number six on KS Mobile’s list of top 10 battery-draining Android apps.
