Former Jumia CEO, Raphael Afaedor Launches New Ecommerce Platform

Raphael Afaedor, former CEO at the popular online store Jumia has again hit the ground running with the launch of a new online platform called Supermart, an online grocery delivery service that allows customers shop for groceries from choice supermarkets in Lagos.

Raphael left Jumia in January alongside his co-founding CEO, Tunde Kehinde. Both of them now play within the ecommerce ecosystem with Tunde Kehinde also running a new ecommerce logistics startup calledA-Post. Supermart is a product of a collaboration between Rafael and Gbolahan Fagbure, a former director of operations at Jumia who also left about the same time with Tunde and Rafael.

According to Raphael, “knowing that customers typically go to multiple supermarkets to complete their grocery shopping led us to develop this service. Supermart allows customers easily add items from the multiple stores into one basket and pay once. For the first time in Nigeria, customers will be able to select when their order is delivered to their homes or offices, which can be in as early as three hours.”

Supermart will have a list of all the groceries from major supermarkets in Lagos and then allow users make purchase from their choice store(s). park-n-shop

The goods will be selected and packaged by a personal shopper and then have it delivered by the delivery drivers. “Our drivers are friendly and will carry your groceries all the way to your door even if you live on the fourth floor of a building with no elevator…they go the extra mile. Said Fagbure

The turnaround time is said to be 3 hours, which is a major selling point as the service is said to save the customer an estimated 6 hours a week.

However the service is currently limited to the Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Marina, Lekki and VGC with a later expansion to other parts of Lagos.
