Gmail now lets you send money via attachment but there’s a ‘but’

Yesterday, Google  introduced the ability to request and send money via Gmail. The feature was first only available on Web, has now arrived on the Android app as well.

You tap the attach button like you normally would to send along a photo, video, or document, and now you’ll see an option to attach some money. A pop-up window appears where you can input the amount and add a note, and send. Not only this you can also request for money if you are out of money. Just do the same. Go to attachment icon and select the option of “Request Money”.

Recipients don’t need a Gmail email address for it to work, there is no need for Google Wallet to be installed, and recipients can configure it so the money they receive through Gmail goes directly into their bank account.

Now to the ‘but’ part…

The service is currently available in the US only. Oops! Yeah, it hurts. I was already so excited when I heard the whole news but the fact that it’s not yet in Nigeria just dulled my spirit. But, hopefully, this feature will be rolled into Naija. *fingers crossed*
