Nigeria’s on-demand motorcycle hailing service, Gokada, celebrated its first year anniversary yesterday. Alongside, the company launched their new headquaters in Ilupeju, Lagos.
The company started in 2018 with twenty motorcycles in a one room apartment in Yaba, Lagos and now boasts of over a thousand motorcycles.
Gokada uses smart 200 cc motorbikes that are allowed to move on major roads in Lagos unlike the conventional 100 cc motorbikes driven by the regular ‘Okada’ drivers which has been banned from moving on major roads in Lagos State.
The Future
With operations currently in Lagos, the company plans on expanding to states where the market demand is strongest. The company also has plans of diving into other modes of transportation asides motorcycles, in the future.
