In 2018, tech giant Google announced plans to open its first artificial intelligence (AI) lab in Africa. The company officially announced that the Google AI Accra is open for business.
Google AI Accra is headed by Moustapha Cisse. He leads the team of engineers and researchers working in AI. Addressing journalists at the official opening ceremony of the center, he said the center is manned by experts from across Africa and beyond, who are working with research institutes spread across Africa.
