Google Drive has introduced a new video player that includes fast-forward and rewind Feature, aligning with its Material Design 3 system. This update enhances the user experience by allowing easy navigation through videos stored in the cloud.
With the Google Drive fast forward rewind feature, users can now skip ahead or go back by 15-second intervals using dedicated buttons next to the play/pause option. Additionally, playback speed adjustments and captions can be modified without accessing the full settings menu. This update aligns with Google’s goal of providing a seamless media experience, especially with the upcoming Google Vids editor powered by the Gemini large language model (LLMO).
Rollout of Fast-Forward and Rewind Feature in Google Drive
The Google Drive fast forward rewind feature is in the extended rollout phase for Rapid Release domain accounts. Users should see it within 15 days. For Schedule Release domains, the update begins on November 18, with visibility expanding over three days. This feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and personal Google account holders.
Other Workspace Enhancements
Along with this new update, Google has updated its Calendar with a modern interface. Users can switch between light mode, dark mode, or the device’s default theme. These enhancements improve usability and support Google’s mission to enhance the Workspace experience.
