Google Fi Launches Cheaper Unlimited Plan and Boosts Data on Existing Tiers

Google Fi is rolling out a more affordable wireless plan for budget-conscious users. Called Unlimited Essentials, the new plan costs $35 per month for one line and includes unlimited calls, texts, and up to 30GB of high-speed data.

This marks Google Fi’s cheapest unlimited plan to date and is part of a broader update to its mobile plans that include renaming and upgrading existing options.

Key Changes to Google Fi Plans

Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s new:

Unlimited Essentials – $35/month

  • New entry-level plan
  • Unlimited talk, text, and data
  • 30GB of high-speed data
  • Slower speeds after limit

Unlimited Standard (formerly Simply Unlimited) – $50/month

  • New name, same price
  • 50GB of high-speed data (up from 35GB)
  • 25GB of hotspot tethering (up from 5GB)

Unlimited Premium (formerly Unlimited Plus) – $65/month

  • 100GB of high-speed data (up from 50GB)
  • 50GB of hotspot data (previously unlimited high-speed tethering)
  • International 5G access included

eSIM Support for Tablets and Laptops

Google Fi is also making it easier to connect secondary devices like iPads and laptops to your plan using eSIM no physical SIM card required. This feature is available at no extra cost and can be activated via the Google Fi account dashboard.

To set up an eSIM-connected device:

  1. Go to fi.google.com/account
  2. Select Manage plan
  3. Tap Connect your tablet
  4. Scan the QR code using your device

Other Notable Updates

  • International 5G is now supported on iPhones and Android phones.
  • 5G coverage expands to 92+ countries for users on Unlimited Premium and Flexible plans.
  • You’ll soon be able to listen to voicemails directly from the Phone app (instead of the Fi app).

With these changes, Google Fi is aiming to offer more flexibility and better value across all price points. Whether you’re a heavy data user or just need a basic, affordable plan, there’s now a more tailored option on the table.
