How GoMyWay connects passengers with drivers

GoMYWay

Various ride platforms have been launched into the Nigerian market from easy Taxi to Uber and now GoMyWay. However, GoMyWay has introduced a completely different idea from what the other two have offered Nigerians.

GoMyWay is a ride sharing solution for trips within a city as well as trips across the country. So, why is this different? While the other 2 platforms which we are familiar with are used for hailing a taxi, the GoMyWay platform allows about anyone who owns a car, whom I presume must undergo some kind of verification process, to register on their site. The idea was to develop a people-powered transport network in Africa.

How does it work? For security purposes, there are 4 verification levels in place. The higher the verification level, the more likely it is that people will share a ride with that member.

When you offer a ride, the platform has a unique formula which puts into consideration the fuel cost and the distance. However, the owners of the rides are at liberty to charge you lesser or even more but there is a maximum limit which is expected of the ride owner as GoMyWay is not intended to be a taxi service like Uber or Easy Taxi.

After a ride, you get to rate that ride owner on your co-travelers profile page and members get notified of the review and other activities on their profile via email or SMS.

While this may seem to be a good initiative, I am wary of the safety particularly in a society where kidnapping and ritualist exist. How safe is the ride that we find on the platform? Have you tried it? Share your experience with us.
