Chinese tech giant Huawei has responded to US President Donald Trump’s presidential decree that is aimed at banning US companies from using Huawei’s telecommunications equipment.
In its response, Huawei described itself as the undisputed leader in the field of 5G and noted that prohibiting Huawei from operating in the United States will not make the United States safer or stronger.
“This will only reduce the United States to substandard and more expensive alternatives that will cause delays in the deployment of 5G and ultimately harm the interests of US businesses and consumers. In addition, unreasonable restrictions will affect Huawei’s rights and raise other more serious legal issues,” Huawei stated.
The US Department of Commerce has also revealed plans to add Huawei Technologies Co. and its affiliates to its list called “List of Entities”, a measure to prohibit Huawei from buying electronic parts and components from companies without government-approved licenses.
“Huawei opposes the decision made by the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). This decision is in no one’s interest. It will cause significant economic harm to the US companies with which Huawei operates, will affect tens of thousands of jobs in the United States, and disrupt the collaboration and mutual trust that currently exists in the international supply chain,” the company stated.
It announced it will seek remedies and find a solution to this case.
“Huawei will also work to proactively mitigate the impact of this incident.”
