Tech giant, Huawei, has launched another smartphone in the Y series; called the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019. The Y series is Huawei’s affordable smartphone line with sleek design and strong performance.
As a direct successor to the Huawei Y7 Prime (2018), the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 now comes with a classic design and even better performance.
Design and Build
With a sturdy build and rounded edges, the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 weighs 168 g, a little heavier than the 2018 version which comes at 155 g. Holding it, it doesn’t feel that heavy. It also provides a firm grip and non-slippery feel.
The back of the device holds the finger-print scanner, about an inch away from the camera. (The fingerprint sensor also allows you to take pictures, answer a call and dismiss an alarm)
The upper left side of the device houses the SIM tray that can either take two nano SIMs or one nano SIM card and an SD card.
The volume rocker and power keys are placed on the upper right side of the device, the USB-C charging port and speaker at the bottom of the phone while the headphone jack is at the top.
Display
To me, the most impressive feature about this device is its display. It comes with a massive 6.2 inch full view display that provides a high quality entertainment experience for video and gaming.
Its IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels ensures a clearer and wider view.
Memory and Performance
The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor which delivers smooth performance. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can further be expanded up to 512GB with a microSD card.
Camera
The Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 features three cameras: 16MP front camera and 13MP+2MP dual rear camera.
It also comes with a Gesture Control and Smile Detection feature that allows the user to take a selfie while closing or opening the palm. Users can also say “cheese” and the camera takes a picture.
Battery
With a 4,000mAh battery, the device provides a pretty decent battery life. It gets you through a day with moderate usage. The device also charges fast.
Conclusion
If you want something not so expensive, with top notch display, average camera and battery life, then the Huawei Y7 Prime should be on your list. The camera could do a little better but if you’re not one to look for smooth lines, then you’re good to go.
