iFixit, a private company dedicated to teaching us how to repair our own gadgets has kept with its tradition of tearing apart gadgets (so we can better understand how they work) by tearing down the Samsung Galaxy S7.
Without bothering you with all the details (which you could read on the iFixit website, here are some of the key things we now know or have confirmed about the Galaxy S7;
- The heat pipe Samsung says is responsible for cooling the device is actually just a ‘copper twig’.
- The 3,000mAh battery in the S7 is larger than the 2,550mAh in the S6, 1,715 mAh in the iPhone 6S and 2,750 mAh in the iPhone 6S Plus.
- The S7 is a lot more difficult to repair as some of the techniques used to make it water resistant also make it a lot less repairable than Samsung’s previous flagships.
- Since the screen of the S7 requires heat to remove the adhesive used in holding it in place, it’ll cost a lot to replace the screen if it were to break or if its components were to fail.
- Components are not stuck together to the phone’s midframe but instead are separated (unlike in the Galaxy S6)
Suffice this all to mean, after spending so much money on purchasing an S7, wisdom demands you get a really good case for it immediately. Better to hide the beautiful body of your phone than flaunt it without a case only to damage it irreparably or what do you think?
