With the amount of buzz the announcement of the iPhone 8, 8Plus and X created online, it is most unlikely you haven’t heard all that you are about to read. But just so you are double sure of the facts before you enter an argument with an Apple or Android fanboy or girl, here are details of the iPhone 8 and 8Plus features… all over again.
1. NEW GLASS AND ALUMINUM DESIGN
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus come with a beautiful glass at front and back with stainless steel frame wrapping round the edge, a complete material overhaul that comes in three new colors: space gray, silver, and gold. They are also water and dust resistant.
2. NEW RETINA HD DISPLAYS
The new 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Retina HD displays on the iPhone 8 and 8Plus respectively adjust the white balance of the display to match the surrounding light for a more natural, paper-like viewing experience. The vibrant wide color gamut Retina HD display offers the “best color accuracy” in the industry.
3. A11 BIONIC CHIP
The new iPhone pair come with the new A11 Bionic processor which features a six-core CPU design with two performance cores that are 25 percent faster and four efficiency cores that are 70% faster than the A10, offering good performance and energy efficiency. A new, second-generation performance controller can harness all six cores simultaneously, delivering up to 70 percent greater performance for multi-threaded workloads, giving customers more power while providing the same great battery life.
4. DESINGED FOR AR
The cameras on iPhone 8 Plus are custom tuned for the ultimate Augmented Reality (AR) experience. Like the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 Plus camera is individually calibrated, with new gyroscopes and accelerometers for accurate motion tracking. AR benefits from A11 Bionic, which handles world tracking, scene recognition and incredible graphics at 60fps, while the image signal processor does real-time lighting estimation.
5. CAMERA CLARITY
Featuring an improved 12-megapixel camera with a larger and faster sensor, a new color filter and deeper pixels, the new Apple-designed image signal processor delivers cool pixel processing, wide color capture, faster autofocus in low light and better HDR photos, while a new quad LED True Tone Flash with Slow Sync results in more uniformly lit backgrounds and foregrounds adding up to nice photos with vibrant, realistic colors and more detail.
The new camera also delivers a high-quality video capture with better video stabilization, 4K video up to 60fps and 1080p slo-mo up to 240fps. The Apple-designed video encoder provides real-time image and motion analysis for optimal quality video.
6. WIRELESS CHARGING ABILITY
The glass back design enables a wireless charging solution working with the established Qi ecosystem. So, while it is a new feature on Apple new devices, it also leads to the understanding of the origin of glass backs for these new devices as iPhone had in the past come with metal back which would not support this system of wireless charging.
7. iOS 11
