If you thought Infinix Hot was hot, well it just got hotter. In collaboration with Jumia and MTN, Infinix added the all new Infinix Hot Note A.K.A JIM’sBigThing into the mix.

So what’s the deal with the Hot Note?

Well first of all, the size. The device sports a 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 at 267ppi with 16 million colors. It fits in perfectly in the space between tablets and phones; and with a thickness of 8.9mm and weight of 172 grams, it’s quite comfortable to handle.

Design wise, it has a boxy shape with slightly curved corners, and a plastic back cover with a metal finish that gives the device a premium look. With the Hot Note, Infinix has done away with the side tray for the SIM card. Instead there are two SIM card slots behind the device; a nano-SIM and a micro-SIM slot, and also a micro SD card slot.

Next, the processing power and memory: the device runs on a Mediatek 1.4GHz Octacore processor and has an internal memory of 16GB which is expandable to 32GB via the micro SD card slot. Even though it only has 1GB of RAM, the Hot Note performs smoothly when running memory intensive apps; the OS on the Hot Note is the Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

In the camera department, there’s an 8MP back- facing camera and a 2MP front facing camera. Now these might not be the highest specifications but the Hot Note makes up for this with cool features like face beauty, panorama shot, multi-angle, motion track, HDR, Live photo, and sound camera.

The battery is what makes the Hot Note truly shine, its time worry less about battery juice and to do away with that power bank… i call it a bragging right. It is an impressive 4000mAh that takes only 1hr 30mins to charge from 0 to 100 percent. On a full charge with regular usage- phone calls, browsing, social media, gaming e.t.c- the Hot Note would last for up to two days before another recharge is required. In low battery situations there are also power management features that help in extending the battery life a bit longer. Although the back cover is removable, to allow you insert your SIM card, the battery is irremovable.

Other unique features on the Hot Note are:

HotKnot which allows the transfer of files between devices by placing their screens against each other. Something different from Flash Share or Bluetooth. We tried this with two Hot Notes and it worked well but am not sure it can work with other devices except the Hot Note.

Actions which are a series of features like Tapping wake and Quick start which allow device activation by making gestures on the screen. For example, making the gesture “W” on the off screen activates Whatsapp.

So that’s a basic review of the Infinix Hot Note. If you want to get your hands on the next level of Hot, head down to Jumia.com.ng and hook yourself up. Pre-Order begins on the 11th March 2015.
