Jaguar Land Rover – the British luxury automaker, has unveiled a new convertible SUV which is a convertible version of the Range Rover Evoque with a power-folding back roof and it is the world’s first luxury compact SUV convertible.
Seating and Interior space for the Range Rover Evogue Convertible are practically the same as the Range Rover Evoque Coupe model, with about 866 mm of rear seat legroom.
The trunk of the Range Rover Evogue Convertible (at 8.8 cubic feet) is smaller than that of its coupe counterpart (at 19.4 cubic feet). However, the size of the trunk doesn’t change whether the roof is up or down and is unaffected by the roof’s operations.
The convertible Range Rover is also fitted with reinforced windshield pillars and is designed to release protective bars from behind the rear head rests to protect passengers if a rollover crash is imminent.
The roof lowers in 18 seconds and raises in 21 seconds at speeds of up to 48 Km/h. In addition, the Evoque Convertible is powered by a 240-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and has a nine-speed automatic transmission with full-time all-wheel drive.
The company announced that new production version will go on sale in mid-2016 and will start at $50,000 for a base model.
