In a recent post on Instagram, the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, unashamedly called Apple out. With the issue on ground being security, Zuckerberg claims that his social media platform, WhatsApp, is more secure than iMessage. His backup for this claim is the end-to-end encryption for calls and messages that WhatsApp offers.
Well, it is not a surprising event to see Meta point accusing fingers at Apple. The two tech companies have a series of scores to settle with each other. Only, this time, WhatsApp took on iMessage pointing out possible security vulnerabilities on it.
Sharing an image of a WhatsApp advertisement billboard that read “Green Bubble, Blue Bubble (both of which are peculiar to iMessage), and Private Bubble (referring to WhatsApp),” the Meta CEO teased people to move over to WhatsApp and enjoy protection with end-to-end encryption.
Interestingly, another big player in the tech industry, Android, wanted in on this privacy claim. Taking to their Twitter page, Android took the side of Mark Zuckerberg, pointing out Apple’s restrictiveness with iMessage which can as well pose a security threat. Both Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) and Android might be on the same page against Apple, but they offer different solutions to the security problem. Zuckerberg advises the public to come over to WhatsApp, while Android encourages Apple to adopt RCS messaging as a standard for chats.
