Ebuka Onuchukwu: I have always been passionate about technology and its impact on society. With the increasing threats to digital security, I felt it was essential to deepen my understanding of cybersecurity. Earning a distinction in this field allows me to contribute significantly to safeguarding sensitive information and advancing innovative security measures.

Can you tell us about a ground-breaking project you worked on?

Ebuka Onuchukwu: One of the most impactful projects I led was the development of a cybersecurity framework for a federal government initiative. This framework enhanced the country’s cybersecurity posture and helped protect critical infrastructure, ensuring that sensitive data remained secure from potential threats.

How do you approach mentorship within the tech community?

Ebuka Onuchukwu:  Mentorship is vital for the growth of the tech community. I actively engage with aspiring professionals by providing tailored guidance and sharing my experiences. I believe in fostering a supportive environment where young talents can thrive and learn from real-world challenges.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the tech industry in Africa today?

Ebuka Onuchukwu: The biggest challenge is the lack of access to quality education and resources in technology. This limits the potential for innovation and growth. Addressing this issue requires collaboration between governments, educational institutions, and the private sector to create programs that empower individuals in underserved communities.

How do you stay current with emerging technologies and trends?

Ebuka Onuchukwu: I prioritize continuous learning by attending conferences, participating in workshops, and pursuing certifications—just like I recently did with my master’s degree (laughs). Reading extensively on the latest research and trends is essential, and networking with other professionals also plays a crucial role in staying informed and sharing knowledge about emerging technologies.

As a leader in the tech industry, how do you define leadership?

Ebuka Onuchukwu: Leadership in the tech industry is about inspiring others and fostering an environment where innovation can thrive. It involves not only guiding teams through complex projects but also being a role model for integrity and collaboration. I believe that true leaders empower those around them, helping them to develop their skills and confidence. My approach is to listen actively, encourage diverse perspectives, and create opportunities for growth, ensuring that everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute.

With your extensive experience in diverse areas of technology, how have you developed your skills in fields like cybersecurity, cloud computing, software development, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and network infrastructure?

Ebuka Onuchukwu: Over the years, I have prioritized a holistic approach to my professional development. Each area of technology fascinates me, and I’ve dedicated time to gaining hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge in all of them. I pursued relevant certifications, participated in projects that challenged my abilities, and engaged in continuous learning through online courses and workshops. Collaborating with peers and industry leaders also played a crucial role, as it allowed me to exchange ideas and learn from their expertise. As you know, staying adaptable in this fast-paced industry is essential (laughs), and I believe that embracing lifelong learning has been key to my success in navigating and excelling across these diverse technological domains.

As a known mentor, what specific initiatives have you undertaken to support mentorship in the tech community?

Ebuka Onuchukwu: I have initiated several mentorship programs aimed at equipping young professionals with the skills they need to succeed in technology. These programs include workshops, one-on-one mentoring sessions, and online forums where mentees can share their challenges and seek advice.
